Third edition of the Istanbul Environment Friendly City Award (IEFCA)

Applications for the third edition of the Istanbul Environment Friendly City Award (IEFCA) are open.

The UNEP/MAP – Barcelona Convention Secretariat launched the call for applicant cities to the 3rd edition of the Istanbul Environment Friendly City Award (IEFCA) in view of presenting the Award at COP 22 in December 2021 in Ankara, Turkey. The call is open until 25 January 2021.

Funded by the Government of Turkey, IEFCA was created in the framework of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD) to recognize efforts of coastal cities in promoting sustainable development.

Both small towns and metropolitan agglomerations located along the Mediterranean coast are invited to apply by demonstrating concrete steps taken and progress achieved to protect the environment, improve the quality of life and promote sustainable development.

Cities and local authorities have an important role to play to entrench sustainability in the Mediterranean at a time when we aspire to building back greener and to achieving a green renaissance in the region.
