Anna Maria Bertini, Councillor of the Municipality of Ancona, with delegation to the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion, collects the witness from the outgoing Secretary General, Ida Simonella.

The election of the new Secretary General took place during the Executive Board no. 3/2023 held in Ancona and online on 18 July 2023.

The meeting, chaired by the Mayor of Fano, Massimo Seri, was attended by representatives of 12 Cities of the Adriatic-Ionian Region, who unanimously conferred the role of Secretary General to Mrs. Bertini, renewing confidence towards the City of Ancona in the maintenance of the role of headquarters of the General Secretariat of the FAIC.

After greeting and thanking her predecessor in this position, the Councillor expressed her willingness to give continuity to a path already begun, further implementing relations with the countries of the Adriatic-Ionian area and taking forward the issues of the pillars of the EUSAIR, in accordance with the EU programmatic lines.

Bertini reiterated how the City of Ancona plays a fundamental and strategic role both for its geographical position as a hub city on the Adriatic, and for the role of headquarters of the Secretariats, as well as the FAIC, of the Forum of the Chambers of Commerce of the Adriatic and the Ionian, the Network of the Universities of the Adriatic and the Ionian and the Adriatic Ionian Initiative.

The new Secretary General of the FAIC has confirmed her willingness to work on the growth of the FAIC network, providing her professional experience and the human resources that currently operate in the association.
